Biographical History

An Oberlandesgericht (OLG) is a higher court for ordinary jurisdiction, i.e. private and criminal law in the constituent states of Germany. The hearing of restitution cases as well as proceedings against Nazi perpetrators are assigned to its remit.

Scope and Content

The correspondence documents the gathering and dissemination of restitution related information by The Wiener Library. This includes the plundering of the Israelitische Lehrerbildungsanstalt in Würzburg, the situation in the Ghetto Shanghai, and an order of the deportation of Sinti and Roma (Gypsies).
