Biographical History
Walter Hösterey, pen name Walter Hammer (1888-1966) was a German writer and publisher. A political opponent he had been interned by the Nazis in Sachsenhausen concentration camp and in prison. After the war he built up an archive of German resistance.
Scope and Content
Correspondence regarding enquiries by Hammer for material about several people persecuted in the Nazi era including Helmut Hirsch, Štefan Lux, and Hans Litten; the gathering and dissemination of information on the fate of people imprisoned in Nazi prisons; and the consignment of a certain correspondence of Hammer with a third person. Contained are numerous transcripts and printed material.
