Biographical History

Margarete Fried had been a teacher in the Jewish community Berlin as well as an employee at the Centralverein deutscher Staatsbürger jüdischen Glaubens (C.V). When the Nazis came to power she emigrated to South Africa and later at some point to Israel.

Scope and Content

Correspondence regarding a restitution related enquiry by Fried’s son Ludwig about the employment of his mother at the Centralverein deutscher Staatsbürger jüdischen Glaubens (C.V.). Contained are brief correspondences with former C.V. officials Alfred Hirschberg and Johannes Rohse. M. Fried’s involvement in The Wiener Library’s eyewitness testimony project is also briefly addressed.
