Biographical History
Helmut Friebe (1894-1970) was a German military officer who had held the rank of a general in the Wehrmacht.
Scope and Content
The correspondence centres on the Wehrmacht and some of its high ranking commanders, trials of war criminals in West Germany, and the country’s current political situation, especially the public view on the 20 July Plot. Furthermore, Friebe enquires for support in finding a host family for his daughter who planned a longer stay in England.
Comprising handwritten and typewritten letters the correspondence also contains one postwar photograph showing presumably Helmut Friebe and his family.
