Biographical History
The Żydowsky Instytut Historyczny (ZIH) in Warsaw is a research institute for the history and culture of Polish Jewry. Founded in 1947 it is widely known for holding the Warsaw Ghetto Archive (Ringelblum Archive).
Scope and Content
Documenting the close cooperation between the Library and the ZIH the letters concern the exchange of publications as well as archival material, including eyewitness accounts and photographs. From 1959 onwards the correspondence comprises an increasing number of research or restitution related enquiries on specific subjects (e.g. ghettos) or individuals.
