Biographical History
Prof. Dr. Herbert Weichmann (1896-1983) was a Jewish-German lawyer, centre-left politician and publisher. He had survived the Nazi era by emigrating to the US. Upon his return to West Germany in 1948 Weichmann served as Mayor of Hamburg from 1965-71.
