Biographical History

The Victorian Jewish Board of Deputies, today Jewish Community Council of Victoria, is the representative body of Jewry from Victoria, Australia. Founded in 1938 its headquarters are in Melbourne.

Scope and Content

Correspondence regarding the fight against Antisemitism in Australia. It deals with an enquiry on the Nazi past of three Hungarian immigrants; the lawsuit of British Antisemite A. K. Chesterton against Australian newspapers; and the consignment of material for a planned exhibition on the Warsaw Ghetto.
