Biographical History
The Memorial Committee was an English association of individuals dedicated to education about Nazism, to remove former Nazis in public positions in both German states, and to fight racism and antisemitism in any form. A particular concern was the commemoration of the Warsaw Ghetto and the erecting of a respective memorial in England.
Scope and Content
Correspondence regarding several issues, including: the Committee’s Library membership; financial support of the work of German Anti-Nazi activist Reinhart Strecker; the production of a brochure about Adolf Eichmann for his upcoming trial; a Warsaw Ghetto commemoration organized by the committee and its plans to establish a permanent memorial; the display of the exhibition ‘Life in the Nazi Concentration Camps’ in Manchester and some related difficulties with some items the Library had lend the curators for this exhibition.
Beside letters, a statement of the Committee’s aims and objects is contained.
