Biographical History
The Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands (SPD; Social Democratic Party) is a centre-left political party in Germany and one of the country’s two major contemporary parties. Tracing its roots back to the 1860s it's the oldest extant political party in the German parliament. The SPD was re-founded in Bonn in 1945.
