Biographical History

Paul Carl Rijkens/ Rykens (1888-1965) was a Dutch entrepreneur. The founding chairman of the Unilever company became a board member of The Wiener Library in the early postwar period.

Scope and Content

Correspondence regarding various issues, including: a plan to restructure the Library under guidance of the Unilever company; Rykens Library membership and the receipt of its Bulletin and Press Survey; the clearance of a storage room for books; and a Library request for financial support by Unilever. The latter contains a brief overview of the Library’s budget plan for 1959.
