Biographical History
Prof. Dr. Menko Plaut was an Israeli agricultural scientist of German descent. He had emigrated to Palestine in 1936. Plaut was a close friend of Alfred Wiener and father of Wiener’s son in law, the husband of his daughter Eva.

Scope and Content
Correspondence regarding the purchase of books, the publishing of an obituary in the Jewish Chronicle, and birthday wishes. Included are also a brief correspondence with the United Restitution Office (URO) regarding a restitution related affidavit for Menko Plaut (1956), a brief correspondence with the cultural department of the West German Ministry of Interior (1957), and a copy of the renewed certificate by the university Marburg awarding Plaut with the doctoral degree (1959).
