Biographical History

Jervis Royalton Roe (1909-?), was a young man working in Vienna in 1938 at the age of 19. He kept a record of the key political events in Austria during this period. Later he was a member of the British Expeditionary Force, during which time he kept a diary documenting his retreat to Cherbourg in 1940. By the end of the war he was a member of the Royal Engineers, during which period he kept a diary documenting his movements through France and Holland etc.
