Biographical History

Leonard Alan Gurrie was born in Dublin in 1939 and grew up in London. During the war, he was evacuated to Leeds and then back to Dublin. He had a long-term partner and companion for about 40 years. As a child, he started collecting stamps and this is one collection of a number we found in his flat. You will see they are all mostly neatly arranged, according to the country of origin at the time. Many of the countries have long since changed their names. Leonard was an accountant by trade and worked in London until his retirement. He enjoyed travel and history books, and also a large collection of pristine albums of global musicals from the 1950s to the 2000’s.
