Biographical History

Harry Mayer formerly Majerowicz (b. 1925) was the only child born to Jewish parents from Berlin. He attended the Jewish school at Rykestrasse in Prenzlauer Berg before coming to Great Britain in June 1939 on the Kindertransport. His parents were deported to Auschwitz as part of the 'Fabrikaktion' on 3 March 1943, whence they never returned.
After the war Harry married another former refugee, Irma Pessel (b. 1927), who came on a Kindertransport from Magdeburg in February 1939.
