Biographical History
Erica Therese Roberts (1918-2017) (formerly Erika Therese Robitschek) was born into an upper class Austrian Jewsh family in Vienna. Her uncle, who had close relations with the Hapsburg nobility, was able to obtain a passport for her and send her to England along with a number of other young Jews. Most of her family remained in Vienna and perished in the Holocaust. Her father and her step sister escaped to Palestine and her uncle escaped to Venezuela.
In England Erica was first employed as a nanny and thereafter as a house assistant to a high-ranking British army officer. After the war she learned bookkeeping and was employed for many years in a textile company.
