Biographical History
Laura Selo née Gumpel (b. 1923) came to England with her two sisters on 1 June 1939 on one of the Nicholas Winton Kindertransports. Originally from Berlin they were sent to a convent school in Bohemia in 1935. Their father, Karl Gumpel, formerly director of the company, Edeka, followed them as did their mother later.
