Biographical History

The donor's grandfather was a member of a group which was trying to find work for (Jewish) scientists and academics from Germany after the Nazi seizure of power. One of the correspondents is Amalie Emmy Noether, whom Albert Einstein amongst others, described as the most important woman in mathematics.
