Biographical History

Berthold Deutsch, the father of the donor, was married to Trude, nee Lustig.
Berthold’s sister was Grete (Gretl). She escaped to the UK.
Berthold’s father was Julius who was married to Hermine, née Singer. They are thought to have both died in the Kovno Ghetto or en route in November 1941.
Julius Deutsch was born  18 October 1873. Julius had 4 siblings-  Odile and Paula were unmarried and died on the Kovno transport.Sigmund was a widower ( since WW1) and his son Otto was born in 1912. He was brought up by Julius and Hermine. Otto escaped to the UK. Sigmund's fate is unknown.
Max may have been married. His fate is not known with certainty. He may have been on the Kovno transport.
Onkel Fritz, referred to in the Red Cross letters, may have been Hermine’s brother.

Julius' last address in Vienna was Wien 2, Zirkusgasse 21/7.
