Biographical History
The families were were living and working at Kolkholz, a collective farm 1000 miles from Moscow. Their wish was to emigrate to Israel, but Victor Tarasov, the former head of the collective, prevented them from leaving by refusing to issue character references and other documents required for emigration purposes.
