Acquisition

The files of the Landrat were taken over by the District National Committee in Trutnov which passed them to the State Archives in Kuks in 1957. However, only a fragment of the files was handed over and the fate of the rest of the documents is unknown. In 1960, the fonds was transferred to Zámrsk and was arranged. In 1992, the fonds was handed over to the State District Archives in Trutnov.

Scope and Content

The fonds contains documents of the political administration, including the files of the Landrat (district councillor) Office in Trutnov – the files have their own separate inventory, Landrat Trutnov, - and the population records (1890) 1939-1945) where one can find information about the Jewish population of the judicial districts of Trutnov, Maršov, Dvůr Kralové nad Labem, Žacléř and (partly) Jaroměř. According to the 1939 population census, the jurisdiction of the office included 100 municipalities and 73, 376 inhabitants.

System of Arrangement

For the Landrats a filing system with eight basic groups was introduced: A - The Management of the Landratsamt (Land Councillor’s Office), Pol - Police, Ho - Highly Important Issues, Kult - Education, Church and Culture, LF - Agriculture and Forestry, Gd - Police, WL - Armed Forces, VA - State Insurance Office.
