Acquisition

The files of the Landratsamt (District Councillor's Office) Bílina were transferred, in 1954, from the District National Committee Bílina to the State Archives in Litomerice. It can hardly be determined when exactly a visible loss of documents was spotted.

Scope and Content

The fonds contains documents concerning the political administration of the Bílina district in 1938-1945. The Jewish population is mentioned in the following files: Registering Jewish property 1938-1939 (inv. No. 38), the Aryanization - Jews in the Bílina district 1939 (inv. No. 50), Jewish synagogues - the canceled ones, trades for Jews 1939 (inv. No. 52), Religious communities 1939 (inv. No. 63), Criminal police - Jewish half-breeds in the ranks of the police 1940-1945 (inv. No. 66).

System of Arrangement

The files of the Landratsamt Bílina have been preserved from the period of 1938-1945, and only those of the department of state administration. As for the content, the fonds is rather a fragmentary one. The file scheme of the office has not been preserved. It is obvious that when labeling the files, the officials used the division of the main categories into subcategories, the decimal system and the system of combining letters with Arabic and Roman numerals.
