Biographical History

It is not possible to describe the development of the originator of the fonds in detail, because with the exception of a single deed and a ledger, nothing until 1850 has survived. In 1848, the foundations of municipal self-government were laid. The municipality was headed by the municipal council and its board elected the mayor. In 1943, the municipal council was dissolved, and a 5-member commission was appointed, which administered the town until the end of the war. In 1945, it was replaced by the Revolutionary National Committee.

Archival History

The fonds is only a fragment. Documents from an older period burned down during repeated fires, and only those from the period until 1890s have been preserved in some numbers. Úvaly belonged to the Český Brod district until 1960. After being joined with the district of Praha-východ, the fonds was transferred to the District Archives of Praha-východ. It was handed over in 1964, later in 1994. The fonds was organized and inventoried.

Scope and Content

The fonds contains documents arisen from the activities of the Úvaly town administration, deeds, official books, and file material. In general, the relevant information can be found in documents concerning education, culture, church associations, religion, and trade agenda. Jews are also explicitly mentioned in the following documents: inv. no. 195 Population of the municipality - general affairs (Jews) 1940-1941; inv. no. 198 Population of the municipality - records and reports (census, lists of inhabitants and houses, Jews) 1865-1941; inv. no. 267 Housing administration (e.g. forced eviction of Jews) 1867-1943.

System of Arrangement

The fonds was primarily divided into I. Deeds, II. Books, III. File material, IV. Accounting material.
