Biographical History

In 1850, the Velvary court district was established belonging to the Slaný governor's office, where Kralupy also belonged to. In 1855, a mixed district office was established in Velvary, including the Kralupy district, too. After its abolition in 1868, Kralupy belonged to the district governor's office in Slaný. The Kralupy District Court was established in 1912, and the district governor's office in 1913, renamed in 1918 the political district administration. In 1927 it was renamed the district office again. Between 1939 and 1945, the office was put under the supervision of the Nazi authorities, being subject to the Oberlandrat in Kladno. After 1945, the district national committee was established.

Archival History

The fonds was partly damaged by improper storing. It was taken over in 1955 from the District National Committee. In 1958, it was supplemented with 50 boxes from the State Archives in Prague. The fonds was organized, and in 1965, an inventory was made.

Scope and Content

The fonds contains official documents: official books, file material and accounting material. The file material includes trade matters arranged alphabetically according to the names of persons and factories. Larger companies are listed by their names in the Commercial Register. One can search for Jewish people by name. Jews are explicitly mentioned in the following documents: documents of the Jewish religious community from 1938-42 (inv. no. 324); a file of citizens of Jewish religion A-W; records of Jewish property (cottages, businesses, etc.) (inv. no. 485), list of permits issued to Jews to travel to work and back (inv. no. 454).
