Acquisition
The records of the Amtsgericht in Tanvald were taken over from the District Court of Jablonec nad Nisou by the State Archives Litoměřice on 24 November 1964. In 1983 the fonds was taken over by the District Archives in Jablonec nad Nisou, where it was arranged and inventoried in 1987.
Scope and Content
The fonds contains records arising from the activities of the District Court of Tanvald. Records of interest include civil and criminal case records (books and files) – particularly records relating to cases of inheritance and the seizure of goods. (The collection of documents relating to land registers from 1938–1945 and the land registers themselves are kept at the Cadastral Office for the Liberec region – Cadastral Branch Jablonec nad Nisou.)
System of Arrangement
The fonds comprises civil/criminal registers (including lists of names) and civil files. The following parts are mainly of relevance to Jewish issues: disputed judiciary: K – forced administration, undisputed judiciary, VIII – guardianship and custody issues, criminal files e.g. C – Tanvald judicial prison, lists of people arrested.
