Amtsgericht (District Court) of Mariánské Lázně
Extent and Medium
16,49 linear meters
Acquisition
The documents were originally stored in the court building in Mariánské Lázně. After the Amtsgericht ceased to exist in 1945, they were moved to the building of the Regional Court in Cheb, and from there to the State Archives Plzeň, based in Kadaň, in 1957. They were organised there in 1964. In 1984 the fonds were moved to the District Archives Cheb. The original inventory did not contain the marking of inventory units, and a large unarranged addition belonged to the fonds, and so it was rearranged here.
Scope and Content
The fonds contains record books and files from the activity of the Amtsgericht (district court) Mariánské Lázně. The files have survived lacunal. Criminal matters are wholly absent, and neither the civil nor library administration task areas have survived completely. The administrative files apply primarily to the organisation and functioning of the court and its employees. The civil administration task area includes civil disputes, auctions and enforced administrations, property seizures and family law. The library administration primarily contains files concerning debt servicing. The fonds also contains the files of the debt service office. The register books include the List of legal representatives of poor Jews from the years 1938–1944 (inv. № 3).
System of Arrangement
The files of the Amtsgericht had their own file schemes according to which they were filed. The documents of the Amtsgericht Mariánské Lázně are divided into books and files. The section Books consists of record books. The Files consist of register finding aids and files, which are subdivided according to administrative task areas into administrative, civil and library files. Documents from the activity of the debt service office follow on from the library files.
