Biographical History

The Holocaust survivor Pichos Zozulya was a Ukrainian Jew and among the first Jewish people to return to his home town of Chudnov after the war. He married Miriam (née Kaliko). In 1944, he wrote letters to his children and grandchildren explaining what had happened to him and what the fate of their relatives had been.

Acquisition

Records were maintained by Asya Zozulya, daughter of Pichos Zozulya, prior to their donation to the VHEC in 1993.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of correspondence from Pichos Zozulya to his descendants, describing the family’s experience of the Holocaust and its aftermath. Also includes a photograph of Pichos Zozulya dated 1964. Collection has been arranged into two files: Letters (1944) and Photograph (1964).
