Biographical History

Israel David (André) Rosenblum is a furrier born on 5 July 1926 in Charleroi, who had a daughter named Linda Rozenblum. Israel David Rozenblum was a son of Jacob Rozenblum, born on 4 January 1892, and Ruchla Kiersz, born on 5 November 1892. Jacob was a grocer for a living. They were both born in Tomaschow, and both died after deportation to the concentration camps. Israel David had several siblings known in Belgium. Maria (Marie Rozenblum), born on 17 August 1922, Meyer Rozenblum, born on 25 August 1925, and Elias Max Rozenblum, born on 15 April 1925, were all born when the family was in Oberhausen in Germany. The youngest sibling Anna Rozenblum, born on 11 August 1927, was born in Charleroi just like Israel David. On 25 March 1944 an arrest took place. Israel David, Jacob, Maria, Elias Max, Anna and Ruchla were all brought to the Dossin barracks. All were deported with Transport XXIV to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Israel David was the only one to survive and be repatriated.

This collection contains 5 photographs: KD_00961_000001: photo of Israel David (aka Andre) Rosenblum/Rozenblum, stamped 2 July 1943 on the back. KD_00961_000002 - KD_00961_000005: photos of two men who liberated the mother of Nicole Gold, these being firstly Fred Leverett from the Royal Canadian Airforce (RCAF) and secondly another man from the British Royal Air Force (RAF). KD_00961_000006 - KD_00961_000007: photos from Nicole Gold’s visit to the Stolpersteine of her family at their address 53 Rue Haute / Hoogstraat 53 in Brussels.
