    Pencil drawing of a jug created by Karl Schwesig in 1933 while he was a prisoner in Ulmer Hoeh prison in Dusseldorf. After Hitler came to power in January 1933, Schwesig, a Communist, was arrested and imprisoned for 16 months. After his release in 1935, he lived in Antwerp, Belgium. On May 10, 1940, Germany invaded Belgium. Schwesig was arrested and sent to Vichy France, where he was held in St. Cyprien, Gurs, Noe, and Nexon internment camps. In 1943, he was sent to Ulmer Hoeh prison in Dusseldorf, where he was liberated by American forces in April 1945.

    Consists of 41 photographs taken by Saul Loeb, an officer in the United States Army and the assistant to Chaplains Morris Kertzer and Isidore Breslau in Marseille, France. The photographs, taken in the spring of 1945, depict Jews in Marseille, refugees emigrating to Palestine, scenes of Passover, and the Army chaplains.     Saxophone, case, and parts acquired and used by Henry Baigelman after the war. Henry was a professional musician in Łódź when Germany occupied Poland on September 1, 1939. He and his family were imprisoned in the Łódź (Litzmannstadt) ghetto where he and his brother David performed with the orchestra. On June 10, 1944, Himmler ordered the ghetto destroyed, David hid the family instruments. On August 4, 1944, the family was deported to Auschwitz where they were separated.     The collection consist of originals and copies of the various documents, such as copies of identity documents, birth certificates, writing pads, textbooks, school certificates, photographs, messages from teachers to parents (or to the legal representatives of children), memoirs, school notes, presentations and newspapers. These materials also relate to more than 670 mostly Jewish children saved by the Kindertransporte organised by Nicolas Winton and other rescuers.
