    Polish Army uniform issued to Moses Temczyn after the end of World War II in 1945 when he served as chief of surgery at a military hospital in Warsaw, Poland. Dr. Temczyn was mobilized into the Polish Army following the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany on September 1, 1939. He was captured, imprisoned in Stalag LA, and released after 18 months. In 1942, he escaped during deportation from Grabowiec to Sobibor extermination camp. He became the leader of a partisan unit near Lublin which merged with the Polish People’s Army in 1943.
