History
Museum was established in 1942 in Moscow, as a succesor and repository of the former collections of the medical museums of the Russian Empire and Soviet Union.
In was transfered to St. Petersburg in 1945 (than Leningrad) and opened for a public in 1951.

Special value for the researchers of the Second World War is the full collection of medical data of the soviet soldiers taking part in the war. Museum arrchive holds data on over 1 million of soviet citizens who perished during the Second World War and millions of others living during that period. Museum has also medical data of over 100.000 thousand soldiers of other countries taking part in the war.

Museum is opened from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
