History

Local archive in Elista was created in 1920. In 1940 it was named Central State Archive of the Kalmyk Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1943 Kalmyks were deported, the republic was dissolved and the archive was liquidated. It was reestablished in 1957 and in 1958 obtained again its previous name, After the fall of the Soviet Union the archive was renamed and in 1995 it became the National Archive of the Republic of Kalmykia.

Geographical and Cultural Context

Archive holds documents referring to the history of the Kalmykia Region from the year 1713 until the present day.

Opening Times

The workroom of the archive is open from Monday to Friday 9.30 to 13.00 and from 14.00 to 17.30.
