History

The archive in Słupsk came into existence in 1952 according to the Decree of Chief-Director of State Archives as a County State Archive. It was subordinated to Gdańsk Voivodship State Archive. In 1957 it was renamed the branch of Szczecin Voivodship State Archive. In 1961 the archive was renamed again and became the branch of Koszalin State Archive. In 1980 it was converted to the Voivodship State Archive in Słupsk. Since 1994 the archive is again a branch of Koszalin State Archive.

Nowadays. The branch of Koszalin State Archive in Słupsk works on the ground of the Act on National Archival Records and Archives of July 14, 1983, Journal of Law, (Dziennik Ustaw) No 38, 1983.07.19 with later changes.

Archival and Other Holdings

The archive in Słupsk possesses 790 collections and archival founds, which makes about 135000 units and 1300 running metres. The oldest document originates from 15th century (the founds of St. Mary Church in Słupsk). The collection is classified in the following categories: general administration (state and self-government), special administration and control institutions, factories, buisness administration, register records, social organizations, cultural and scientific institutions, churches and religious institutions.

Opening Times

The archive's holdings are available in the workroom open Monday-Tuesday 8.00 - 18.00, Wednesday-Friday 8.00 - 15.00.

Conditions of Access

The access is regulated by Instruction No. 4 of the Head Office of State Archives in Poland, dated February 1, 2013.
