Oorlogsarchief Rode Kruis - Nederland

  • War Archives of the Red Cross - The Netherlands

History

During World War II, the Red Cross set up the Information Bureau to trace missing Dutch citizens and provide information about them. This concerned Jews, Sinti and Roma, political prisoners, military personnel, internees and prisoners of war in the Dutch East Indies, and Dutch citizens who were forced to work in Germany due to labour deployment. The Red Cross has had the collections under its care for over 70 years and in 2018 chose to transfer them to the National Archives, in the interest of current and future generations.
