History

The Jerusalem City Archive (established in 1963) is part of the Jerusalem Municipality. Its purpose is to collect material that is found both from the Jerusalem Municipality and from other sources such as: neighborhoods, bodies, people, related to Jerusalem.

The archive deals both internally with genizah guidelines, skin and preservation of Jerusalem Municipality records and with preservation, sorting and cataloging of historical material related to the city and making it available for public inspection. The archive charges fees for some of the services provided in it. On current issues with the municipality and in the "municipal records" about 60,000 containers, please contact the relevant department.

You can browse the historical archive: about 12,000 archive containers (and complementary collections) and the reference library in the archive contains about 7,000 titles (can not be borrowed). You can also consult the city archives - on issues related to the history of the city of Jerusalem.

Opening Times

Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 to 13:00.
