Records Management and Collecting Policies
The State Archive of Nidwalden is the public archive of the canton. It preserves unique cultural assets from more than 800 years of Nidwalden history.
The State Archive oversees the management of records in the administration and supports municipalities in archiving. It secures records in the administration and collects private archives and documents on Nidwalden's history. Thus, the State Archive contributes to legal security, makes the state's actions comprehensible and enables historical research on Nidwalden.

Tuesdays-Fridays 8:00-12:00, 13:00-17:00.
Reproduction Services
Repros and digital copies for publications must be ordered using a form. A fee is payable for the use of archival material for publications; the State Archives may waive fees for scholarly work. In addition to user fees, there are production costs and any copyright fees.
