History

In 1920, the Federatie der Verzekeringsmaatschappijen was founded.

From this, the Beroepsvereniging der Verzekeringsondernemingen (BVVO), in French Union professionnelle des entreprises d'assurances (UPEA), was formed in 1947. In 2004, under the chairmanship of Claude Desseille, it was transformed into Assuralia.

Geographical and Cultural Context

Assuralia is the Professional Association of Insurance Companies and represents almost all Belgian and foreign insurance companies operating on the Belgian market.

Archival and Other Holdings

The documentation service is available to Assuralia members.

The library contains some 6,000 titles. Apart from insurance, they also cover other subjects such as law, taxation, economics, finance, etc.

The documentation service also subscribes to about a hundred journals, from which about a thousand interesting articles are selected for indexing every year.

Finding Aids, Guides, and Publication

All books and articles are inventoried in a database, defined by title, author, publisher, edition and keywords. A reference list can be provided with all our papers on a given topic. It is best to contact by phone at 02/547.57.98 or by e-mail at info(at)assuralia.be to specify exactly what you are looking for. Someone from the team will then prepare a list for you that you can use during your visit to select the desired books or journals.

Opening Times

Members are welcome from Monday to Friday, preferably in the morning from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Conditions of Access

The library is accessible by appointment only on 02/547.57.98.

Reproduction Services
