Finding Aids, Guides, and Publication

For several years, the Archives Department has been working on detailed inventories of the archives kept in their repositories. These inventories allow a better knowledge of the resources available for the study of the social, economic and administrative history of the City.

These inventories are available to researchers on request and some of them will be published digitally.

Some available inventories:

  • The registers of the decisions of the Council and the College of each of the communes currently making up Charleroi;

  • "Classified establishments ", grouping together the requests of industrialists for the installation of potentially dangerous or polluting materials;

  • Urban planning;

  • "Communal buildings", grouping together the history of buildings belonging to the communes (schools, town hall, etc.);

  • The "Church factories", grouping together the accounts of the various parishes of Charleroi and the merged communes.

Opening Times

Service available from Monday to Friday, from 8.30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.
