  1. Manes, Philipp (* 16.8.1875)

    Born 1875 in Elberfeld. Died 1944 in Auschwitz. German fur trader. Organised the Orientation Service in Terezín, along with numerous leisure activities. Manes wrote a factual report about the cultural and social life in Terezín that was published in 2005 under the name "Als ob's ein Leben wär (As If It Were a Life)". Transported to Terezín in July 1942. Transported to Auschwitz in October 1944.

  2. Baeck, Leo (* 23.5.1873)

    Born 1873 in Lieszno. Died 1956 London. German Rabbi. From 1933 onward President of the Reich’s Deputation of the German Jews. Transported to Terezín in 1943, becoming part of the Jewish Council there in 1944. Liberated in Terezín.
