    The "Mapping the Childhood" digital application is the result of a research project (2021) aiming at compiling data on Jewish students in Thessaloniki from the archives of various types of schools (community schools, public and private schools, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki). Information on approximately 3,500 students in total was compiled.     The Archive contains copies of approximately 4.105 declarations of property conducted in 1943 by Jews of Thessaloniki. It also contains records of approximately 2000 trustees of Jewish businesses in Thessaloniki during the Occupation.

    Lists of Greek hostages and political prisoners in concentration camps in Nazi Germany and Austria [Dachau, Bergen-Belsen, Hannover, Buchenwald, Mengen (Kreis Saulgan) Wurttemberg, Neuengamme, Prison Aichach, Lustenau (Bregenz), Ebensee, Mauthausen, Linz]. The lists were formed by the International Red Cross.

    For the period of the early 20th century , there are judicial decisions concerning the financial affairs of the Jews in Volos. For the period of the Second World War, there are decisions concerning trade and economic disputes with Christians. For the postwar period, decisions relating to death certificates (mainly from the period 1946-1950), property looted by the Germans, the case of the Christian shopkeepers who had been affected by fire and claimed Jewish property, decisions on compensation to victims of the Nazi period (1961-1964).

    Patient records, financial records, folder with correspondence between the Sanatorium and the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki (1946-1947). Jewish Holocaust survivors were hosted in the Sanatorium for treatment with the financial assistance from the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.

    It contains proceedings and decisions of war trials. A number of these cases are relevant to the Jews of Volos.

    The archive concerns applications related to pensions' allocation pursuant to the West German Federal Indemnification Law (known as the Bundesentschädigungsgesetz, or BEG), the German Reich and Equivalent Legal Entities (Monetary Compensa-tion) Act (BRüG, of 19 July 1957, Federal Law Gazette I, p. 734) and the Greek Law Decree 4178/1961. Apart from these, part of the archival material refers to newer agreements about pensions' allocation. The archive also contains the community's correspondence in relation with its demands and its members' indemnifications.

    The archive contains 4.200 declarations of mobile/immobile property corresponding to 13.400 Jews and they are all dated on the 1st of March 1943.The cards contain personal information as well as itemized lists of real and material property subsequently aryanized by occupying forces and Greek collaborators.

    The collection contains information on names, surnames, place and date of birth, residence, education, profession before, during and after WWII, personal stories in camps, living conditions after the return to Thessaloniki.

    The material covers the period of the interwar, the WWII and postwar. It's about the relations between the Jewish community and the local authorities and other Jewish communities in Macedonia and Thrace, the case of the old and the new Jewish cemetery, the economic situation of the community, the education and the communal school, the religious celebrations.

    It contains more than 4.000 Pages of testimonies in commemoration of the Greek Jews who lived in the Greek provinces of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace occupied by the Bulgarians (1941-1944). Its special forms were designed by Yad Vashem to restore the personal identity and brief life stories of the six million Jews who were murdered by the Nazis and their accomplices.
