    Print reproduction of a sketch, from a set of fifteen, depicting teams of prisoners hauling construction materials uphill, while guards and dogs attack them, for use at Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp in France, and published in 1946. A few of the prisoners are identified with NN (Nacht und Nebel [night and fog]) on their uniforms. The sketches were originally created in secret in the camp by Henri Gayot and the published set includes an introduction by Roger LaPorte: both members of the French resistance and prisoners in Natzweiler.   2. Pen and ink drawing by David Friedmann of Jews hauling waste in the Ghetto given postwar to a fellow former resident

    Pen and ink drawing created by David Friedmann (from 1960, Friedman) in 1942, when he was incarcerated in the Łódź Ghetto in German-occupied Poland. The work depicts a trio of men called fecalists whose job was to haul away bodily waste. The Ghetto had no running water or sewers. Friedmann gave the drawing to Menachem Rubinstein with a personalized label in July 1950 in Tel Aviv, Israel. The men befriended each other when both were forced to live in the sealed Ghetto, set up by the Germans in February 1940. Rubinstein's three year old son, Dawid, died there in 1943.     Simon Srebnik (Shimon Srebrnik) was a boy of 13 when he was deported to Chelmno from the Łódź ghetto. He worked on a Sonderkommando burying those who had been murdered by gas. Srebnik was seriously wounded by Nazi gunfire during the liquidation of the camp, but managed to escape and find refuge with a Polish farmer. The Germans offered a large cash reward for turning Srebnik in, but the Poles, who already feared the approaching Russians more than the Germans, did not betray him.
