  2. Bert Yost letter

    The Bert Yost letter was sent by Bert Yost, an American soldier, to Lt. Dorothy Mosely, a nurse serving in United States military hospitals in Britain and France during World War II. The letter , dated May 10, 1945, describes the military hospital where Yost was stationed in occupied Germany. He also described the former prisoners-of-war and concentration camp inmates who had been admitted as patients to his hospital, the refugees he had seen in the area, and stories he had heard about atrocities committed in the concentration camps include a probably reference to Ilse Koch.

    1. Shkolnik family collection

    Contains information about persecution of Ida Shkolnik in a ghetto in occupied Poland; her escape to a forest; her marriage to Morris Shkolnik; their life together as refugees; their immigration to the United States; and their new life in America.

  4. Heinz Loewy postcard

    The collection consists of a postcard received by Heinz Loewy (later Henry Long), who fled to Shanghai, China after surviving imprisonment in several German concentration camps from 1936-1939. The postcard was written by Siegmund "Israel" Meyersohn in Berlin, Germany and dated 17 April 1941.

  5. Fanny Flam papers

    The papers consist of correspondence, documents, identification cards, and a notebook containing pieces of coupons and ration cards that relate to the experiences of Fanny Herman, donor, and her family during their pre-World War II life in Belgium, during their time in hiding in the south of France, and during their escape to Switzerland.

  7. Selected records from the General Files of the Police for Foreigners

    Contains materials related to the observation, registration, and internment of foreigners in Belgium before, during and immediately after the war and to Belgian immigration policies. Also contains information on the control of alien registration and immigration by the Belgian Police for Foreigners.

  8. Identification tag worn by a young boy on a Kindertransport

    1. Fred Lindheim family collection

    Cardboard Red Cross tag with his name inscribed worn by Fred Lindheim in December 1938 when his parents sent him from Frankfurt, Germany, on a Kindertransport to Belgium. His parents were able to get visas to England and the family emigrated there in 1939. They then immigrated to the US in 1940.

  15. Hungarian Refugee Registration Cards

    Hungarian refugee registration cards, created in the outbreak of the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. More than 18,000 Jews fled to Austria. The AJJDC helped emigrants for resettlement, also supported two kosher kitchens in Vienna and furnished medical and religious supplies. While some emigrants stayed in Europe, other group of refugees emigrated to the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Israel and Latin America.
