  1. Teddy bear carried by a young boy on the Kindertransport

    Teddy bear received by 14 year old Jack Hellman as a child and carried with him on the Kindertransport in early 1939. When Jack was nine, his parents sent him away to boarding school in Frankfurt, Germany, to escape the vicious anti-semitism in his hometown, Tann. During the Kristallnacht pogrom of November 9-10, 1938, synagogues and Jewish businesses all over Germany were vandalized or destroyed. Soon after, the housemother of his boarding school petitioned Baron James de Rothschild in Great Britain to provide refuge for the 26 children in the school, as well as her own family.     1. The Alfred Wiener documents collection

    The file is the third part of Curt Rosenberg's account of life as a Jewish refugees in Scotland during World War II. It recounts his legal struggles with his landlord and final victory in the Scottish court and a detailed description of the Scottish landscape he appreciated on his various visits to British POW camps where he held lectures to German prisoners of war. He also reflects philosophically about life and ageing.

    1. Alisa Tennenbaum collection

    Collection consists of photographs of Alisa Tennenbaum and friends in England at various homes where she lived after being sent on a Kindertransport from Vienna, Austria on August 22, 1939. Included are photos of Alisa's father who was in the Pioneer Corps in Britain and her mother who survived Ravensbrück and was sent to Sweden for rehabilitation. The papers also include a school report card issued to Alisa under her previous name, Liselotte Scherzer, in 1935/1936 in Vienna, Austria, and a baby photograph and duplicate ID photograph used on Alisa’s Kindertransport document.

    Contains photocopies of pages from the book "Time Zones" by Joe Schlesinger; a photocopy of a names list containing hundreds of Czech children brought to the United Kingdom by the British Committee for Refugees from Czechoslovakia, Children's Section, under the leadership of Nicholas Winton; and a photocopy of an article published in the "Evening Post" 21 June 1991 entitled "Prague Reunion for Hero Father: He Rescued 664 Children."
