History

The Slovak National Archive is the most significant and most important public archives in the Slovak Republic. Its role is to gather, to protect, to process professionally, and to make available documents. These documents come from work the central authorities of the Slovak Republic and their legal predecessors. There are also documents of national importance as well as those acquired by purchase, gift, or on the basis of deposit contracts in the Slovak National Archive. The Slovak National Archives is also the leading scientific, research and training workplace in the field of archival science in the Slovak Republic.
