History

From April 13, 1921, the Kuban-Black Sea Regional Executive Committee approved the “Regulations on the Separate Archive Offices in the Kuban-Black Sea Region”, which laid the foundation for the formation of a network of archival institutions in the field. One of the first branches in the region was opened in the city of Yeisk at the Kuban-Black Sea Regional Archival Administration. In 1924, several districts were formed from the Yeisk department, including the Yeisk district, which constantly changed its borders. From 1924 to 1953 there were changes in the administrative-territorial division in the territory of the modern Yeisk district. During the Great Patriotic War, the documents of the Yeisk archive, together with the building of the Yeisk executive committee, were destroyed by the retreating units of the Red Army. From August 1942 to February 1943, Yeisk was occupied by the German fascist invaders, the documents deposited during this period were transferred to the State Archives of the Krasnodar Territory (GAKK). From April 20, 1943, the Yeisk Archival Service resumed its activities. By the decree of the head of the administration of the city of Yeisk of 02.04.1993 No. 942, an archive of documents on personnel was created as an independent institution. In 1994, the state archive of the city was transformed into the archive department of the administration of the city of Yeisk, with the maintenance of archives of institutions, organizations and enterprises of the Yeisk district. Practically throughout the history, the archive of the city of Yeisk was a unified archive, with the authority to store archival documents of the Yeisk region.
