History

The Streekarchief Het Gooi en de Vechtstreek manages the archives of the municipalities Blaricum, Laren, Hilversum and Wijdemeren.The municipality Wijdemeren originated in 2002 from the municipalities 's-Gravelad, Nederhorst den Berg and Loosdrecht.

Archival and Other Holdings

The Streekarchief Het Gooi en de Vechtstreek not only hold municipal archives but also keep records of clubs, schools, churches, and families.

Moreover, the archives hold Second World War materials relating to espionage, illegal press, the resistance, and the liberation among others. Many of these materials concern interviews or film footage, a number of these videos can be viewed online.

Opening Times

The Streekarchief Het Gooi en de Vechtstreek is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and on Monday from 9am to 1pm.

Conditions of Access

Visitors who wish to consult original documents in the reading room of the Streekarchief het Gooi en de Vechtsreek must identify themselves once and register on each subsequent visit.
