Archival and Other Holdings

University Library holds all of the inter-war Jewish journals from Zagreb, and Sarajevo ("Židov"; "Jevrejska tribuna"). The rare editions section in "the treasury" (trezor) hold personal and business correspondence of a prominent Zagreb Zionist lawyer, Lavoslav Schick (Šik), killed in the Holocaust (Jasenovac concentration camp), like most Jewish lawyers and jurists who lived in Zagreb and were arrested for the first time in 1941.

Finding Aids, Guides, and Publication

In order to submit a request for the Library’s materials, users must find out whether a particular item is part of the Library’s holdings and write down the item’s call number.

Books

IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE AUTHOR OR TITLE

  • Search the Library’s Online Catalogue.

  • Search the Library’s Alphabetical Card Catalogue of Books (on the Ground Floor). Apart from records on books, this Catalogue includes records on calendars, yearbooks, almanacs and similar publications that recently started to be categorized as serial publications. Specific items are searched by the author’s name (last name, first name) or by the titles of anonymous works. Due to the application of different cataloguing systems, the Catalogue has chronologically been divided in two series: a) Catalogue of works published until 1975 may be searched by author or the first noun in the titles of anonymous works, i.e. Enciklopedijski rječnik–See: Rječnik, enciklopedijski. b) Catalogue of works published between 1976 and 1990 may be searched by author or the first word in the titles of anonymous works.

IF YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE AUTHOR OR TITLE

  • Consult one of our subject search specialists (on the Ground Floor, Floors 1, 3 or 4) who will search the resources available to the Library by specific subject areas (assisting users with their high-school graduation theses, seminar papers, graduation, master’s and doctoral theses, etc.).

  • Search the Library’s Special Catalogue of Books published until 1990 on the Ground Floor, where titles have chronologically been classified by specific subject areas (i.e. musical theory, folklore, dance, etc.).
