History

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Thessaloniki (TCCI) is established in 1918. Its operation begins in 1919. The TCCI is the second Chamber in Greece in terms of size and its contribution in the development of the country until now is very important. The history of the TCCI is closely related with that of the region: the establishment of the Thessaloniki International Fair, the modernization of Thessaloniki Port Authority and of the Free Zone in it, the foundation of the Merchandise Stock Exchange of Thessaloniki, the operation of a middle Commercial School, the foundation of the Superior Industrial School of Thessaloniki (the current University of Macedonia).

Administrative Structure

The Board of Directors of the TCCI is elected once every four (4) years and consists of 41 members, (27 of the Commercial Department, 10 of the Manufacturing Department 3 of the Services Department and 1 of the Export Department). Four (4) additional members are elected according to merit by the Board of Directors of the TCCI and ten (10) more are appointed by law. Also, members of the Board of Directors are the former Presidents of T.C.C.I. The Board of Directors of the TCCI elects the seven members of the Management Committee which, mainly due to its greater flexibility, carries out most of the work regarding representation of the TCCI in missions, conferences, meetings, etc. In terms of Management Services, the TCCI consists of one (1) General Management Office, three (3) Divisions and twelve (12) departments.
