Armia Ludowa was a Polish underground partisan organization, which was active in the generalgouvernement and areas of Poland annexed to the Reich. It was created in 1944-01-01 by the Polska Partia Robotnicza (Polish Workers’ Party). Michał Rola-Żymierski had the command of the Armia Ludowa. In terms of the decree establishing the AL, all Polish armed forces, both in Poland and abroad, were to be subordinated to the authority of Rola-Żymierski. The Gwardia Ludowa is a Polish communist underground organization, established in 1943-04 under Soviet sponsorship. This group, also known as the Polish Peoples Army, welcomed Jews into their ranks. An estimated 1,700 Jews were killed fighting for the Gwardia Ludowa. This army supplied small arms to the Żydowska Organizacja Bojowa (Jewish Fighting Organization), during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. The GL never integrated with the Armia Krajowa.

Led by Party Secretary Władysław Gomułka, the Polska Partia Robotnicza organized a committee called the Krajowa Rada Narodowa, to prepare for the establishment of a future Communist state. In view of the widespread anti-Soviet sentiment in Poland, KRN made a point of emphasizing its alleged independence from Moscow. Meeting for the first time on 1943-12-31, the committee promised to establish a provisional government at a suitable moment in the future, nationalize industry, and expropriate the large landed estates.

The Polska Partia Socjalistyczna was established in 1892 by descendants of the Polish nobility and Polonized Jews from Warsaw. PPS combined the ideology of socialism with the Polish insurrectionary tradition.

Polska Zjednoczona Partia Robotnicza was a polish communistic party which was formed as a result of connections between Polska Partia Robotnicza (Polish Workers’ Party) and Polska Partia Socjalistyczna (Polish Socialist Party). The chiefs of party were in sequence: B. Bierut, E. Ochab, W. Gomułka, E. Gierek, S. Kania, W. Jaruzelski, M.F. Rakowski.
